So this should NOT be coming at this time, but I can't very well tell you about my college life and not tell you about the guy that by some magical power helps get me through it all! I have a missionary now! His name is Jake and he has been out for almost four months! He's in North Carolina serving with all his heart and doing a mighty fine job! He's already the area leader...? Some type of leader and is serving everyone like crazy! Jake and I went to high school together, but never really talked... heck I knew his mom and little sister WAY before him! We officially met through our mutual friend Randy on a boating trip and after that day... I guess God took over and brought us closer together than ever! I know I know... it's a little crazy and hard to understand, but I'm happy so it is what it is! ;) We write once a week and act all cheesy and what not and it completely helps me get through the hard stuff!
Jake's been such a blessing in my life is so many ways! He's helped me figure out what career I'd like to go into, He's helped me love myself the way I should, he's an example of charity and forgiveness daily, and he's a riot of fun! Even on his mission (which trust me I protest to) he's coming up with little ways to surprise me! He loves to give gifts! He does it for his family all the time too! I swear if someone banned the kid from serving and giving he would go into compulsion! He can't help it! When we first started dating is was SO weird for me! I've never had a boyfriend that treated me so kindly before! I didn't realize I could have a guy like that. He gave me flowers, he sent me on scavenger hunts, never once (well I think once) did he ever let me open the car door for myself (which to be honest irritated me sometimes) I love how independent yet very dependent I can be around him! He's always let me be my own girl!
Probably the most significant thing about Jake is that he's always loved me for me. I've never been fake with him. We've never been fake with each other. We have a no secrets policy and to be honest it's amazing what that can do for your relationship as well as your integrity! That's how I knew I loved him. After dating for a bit I laid out ALL of my baggage in front of him and said "This is what you're getting yourself into". With open arms, Jake embraced my true self and accepted me for my past, present, and future! He's done the same to me and well... I like what I see! :) Ladies here's how you KNOW a guy loves you! When you can be your CRAZIEST self! and I'm
talking for example when I was eating ribs, had bbq sauce all over my face, as hyper as a cat jumpin out of a lake, spitting and making double chins with my best girlfriends, and he STILL looks at you and says "I love you" and just laughs with you! That's how you know you've got a keeper! Am I gonna marry the guy? IDK! But that's not the point... The point is for the first time I can look back at this relationship and say... "Wow! For the first time I'm not ending this one on bad terms. For the first time I can say that this guy put my heart back together after I broke it myself! Not some guy breaking my heart and me having to put it back together!" This one is totally opposite and I thank my Father in Heaven everyday for the things I continue to learn from dating my missionary! So you can go ahead and tell me I'm crazy! I already knew that! But I'm happy for a good reason, and I'm gonna take it!
